On October 14, 2006, at Ranchi, the Kurux Literary Society of India was established. Nearly 18 million Kurxar (Oraons) in east-central India speak the Kurux language, but only recently has there been a concerted effort to produce books and scholarly research in the language. This effort was given momentum due to the work of Dr. Narayan Oraon who invented Tolong Siki, the script for the Kurux language.

Ecuador – Shuar Youth Congress 2010

Tuutin-Entsa — The annual meeting of the Shuar young people gathered 320 youngsters from 22 parishes at the Salesian Center in Tuutin-Entsa and Taisha, May 28-30, 2010.

Salesian Youth Movement members, Fr. Juan Cárdenas, Delegate for Ministry with the Shuar, Fr. Ernesto Ankuash, and Sr. Gisella led the gatherings. Luis Tunki, a Shuar deacon, and the Etserin (the catechists from each of the parish centers participating in the meeting) also collaborated in the efforts of those days.

Chiang Mai Thailand’s Don Bosco Home Officially Opened

On June 21, 2009, Bishop Francis Xavier Vira Arpondratana, of Chiang Mai Diocese, retired Bishop Joseph Sangwan Surasarang of Chiang Mai, and 16 priests celebrated the Eucharist to mark the official opening of Don Bosco Home, Chiang Mai. Nearly 700 supporters of the Home participated in the opening Mass.

Wells of Hope — Life Giving water flows in Matto Grasso, Brazil
